Model Choice in Microsoft 365 Copilot is exciting!

The Microsoft announcement to allow model choice and access to Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet 4 and Claude Opus 4.1 within the Microsoft 365 Copilot chat is an exciting look at where they are headed with their Copilot products. Why does this matter?- Copilot felt like a limited ChatGPT wrapper but now model choice allows the user to choose their own adventure.- It’s a similar setup to how models are handled in GitHub Copilot and I’ve always thought it was a better approach. - It’s a strong value proposition for the Copilot product. When operational leaders are deciding which product to pay for, the choice between ChatGPT Enterprise and Microsoft 365 Copilot is less clear. Copilot may soon offer the best of all worlds. - Could we see Microsoft introduce their own models into the mix? I think so. Anyone that uses ChatGPT and Copilot daily knows that Microsoft has a lot of work to do here. These signs of a clearer vision and strategy for the Copilot product as a platform is exciting!
